Scott Sawyer is one of North Carolina’s guitar masters. Jazz-wise enough to back jazz vocalist Nnenna Freelon on several national and international tours, yet nasty enough to handle the lead guitar chores for Mel Melton & The Wicked Mojos. He's performed in the USA, Brasil, Canada, Europe, Asia, The Middle East & Central America. From southside Chicago blues bars to prestigious venues and major festivals around the world—and everything in-between--Sawyer has shared the stage and/or appeared on numerous recordings with many notable artists including Charlie Byrd, David Murray, Jon Metzger, Ed Thigpen, Gongzilla, Willie Pickens, actor Danny Aiello, prima ballerina Marie-Christine Mouis (Paris Opera Ballet), Scott Ainslee, Bob Cranshaw, Ron Carter, Bill Anshell, Jack Wilkins, and Jon Lucien.

He’s appeared on numerous recordings including a Grammy-Nominated Performance in 1997 (Nnenna Freelon's "Shaking Free"). Other albums include Sawyer's "In The Stream" (1992); Bill Anschell-- "a different note altogether" (1998); Lois Deloatch--"Closure" (2005); Gary Brunotte--"Manic Moments (2007). In 2010, Sawyer will appear on a number of new releases including Nnenna Freelon--"Homecoming" (Concord, May 2010) and Lois Deloatch--(details tba).
