Bernie Worrell (piano, grand piano, celesta, Clavinet, organ, Hammond b-3 organ, Wurlitzer organ, keyboards); Darryl Dixon (flute, saxophone); Brett Bass (bass guitar); Will Calhoun (drums, loops); Warren Haynes (electric guitar); Mike Gordon (banjo). One of the primary architects of the signature Parliament-Funkadelic sound (his synthesizer bass on "Flashlight" alone guarantees him legendary status), and a contributor to a dizzying array of side projects, Bernie Worrell is a force of nature. He's also released a handful of solo albums, and 2007's IMPROVISCZARIO reveals the keyboard wizard's manifold, genre-crossing talents. On these seven cuts Worrell improvises over the grooves of a tight, funky rhythm section, switching from grand piano to clavinet to Hammond to Wurlizer and beyond. As usual, Worrell's musical vocabulary is vast, incorporating rock, funk, R&B, and jazz, for an unfolding jam session that feels as deliberate as it does spontaneous.
