John Wubbenhorst & Facing East: Facing Beloved

This collection features 8 of John Wubbenhorst's compositions that reflect his background of 35 years of involvement on the classical Indian music world (John is a disciple of the great bansuri maestro Hariprasad Chaurasia) as well as having grown up in the West and been part of the jazz fusion movement from the 60's, 70's and 80's till the present. A wide range of emotions from the breakneck unisons and firey solos of "John Beyond" (dedicated to John M.) and "Inefectouso Groovstissimo" to the meditative "alap" sections obviously taking inlfuence from his trainings with Hariprasad. Subash Chandran's vocal percussion is stunning and captivating and the rest of the group compliments the overall sound that mmake this a must recording for "Shakti" fans and those looking for ecstatic world journeys.
