John McLaughlin and Jimmy Herring to perform in Mexico


On Friday, December 1st, 2017, famed guitarist John McLaughlin will be making his final tour appearance in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico at Riviera Maya Jazz Festival. McLaughlin and his band, the 4th Dimension, will be showcasing the music he wrote for the legendary Mahavishnu Orchestra four decades ago. Guitarist Jimmy Herring who is known for his inspired contributions to Widespread Panic, The Dead, Phil Lesh and Aquarium Rescue Unit, will co-headline the show with his new bad, The Invisible Whip. The two bands will join together to close the show with a Mahavishnu jam session.

“Since the death of my dearest friend and colleague on the beach at Playa Del Carmen, I have had the intention to visit there to make my homages at the very place where we lost him. I am delighted to return to the beautiful Playa Del Carmen and make my dedication to Paco with my upcoming concert”, says John.
De Lucía died of a heart attack on 25 February 2014, while playing soccer with his son on the beach in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
Riviera Maya Jazz Festival is free all visitors and attracts over 20,000 people from Mexico and around the world. The festival is hosted on the beaches of the Riviera.
