The Yardbirds – Live at Twickenham, London, April 24, 2009
The Yardbirds, including founder members Chris Dreja (guitar) and Jim McCarty (drums) gave an one off appearance at the Twickenham Rugby Stadium on April 24, 2009. This was actually back to the area where the careers of Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page did take off. The band played, among other titles, The Train Kept a Rollin’, Drinking Muddy Water, Heart Full of Soul, My Blind Life, Shapes of Things, as well as other newer material, e.g. Don’t Tell Me About the News. The band was most enthusiastically received. The audience, most of them locals, including members of the authorities of Richmond were obviously enjoying themselves. An autographed picture with the signatures of all Yardbird members was auctiouned, fetching a sum of 275 £. The musicianship was high. Many of the compositions, although reflecting 1960s topics, still sounded most relevant.
